CEA To Certify Home Installers

Posted Thursday, November 16, 2006

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®) and the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) announced they are collaborating on a new professional certification for home technology integrators. The CEA-CompTIA Digital Home Technology Integrator+™ certification (CEA-CompTIA DHTI+) is a new credential that will validate a technician's knowledge and skills to configure, integrate, maintain, troubleshoot and comprehend the basic design concepts of electronic and digital home systems.

The DHTI+ certification is targeted at those who install, service and maintain digital home products. Technicians seeking this advanced-level certification should have 18-24 months experience in some area of home integration.

"Together, CEA and COMPTIA will help prepare technicians for installing and maximizing the performance available from today's sophisticated digital home systems, while ensuring consumers receive the best in-home technology integration," said Kerry Moyer, executive director, CEA TechHome. "Working with a certified installer is an important step in building a quality home technology experience and we are pleased to join forces with CompTIA to support this initiative."

A beta version of the new CEA-CompTIA Digital Home Technology Integrator+™ certification (HT1-201) is now available for a limited time only through Thomson Prometric and Pearson VUE testing centers around the world. To register for an exam, visit certification.comptia.org/resources/registration.aspx. Additional information on CEA-CompTIA DHTI+ is available at certification.comptia.org/hti/default.aspx.
